Brian R. Moore

Associate Attorney

Brian R. Moore is originally from Virginia and has family throughout the state but was primarily raised in  Charlotte, NC where he attended Charlotte Latin School.  Brian is married and proud to announce the birth of his first child, Mason Randolph Moore, on Movember 4, 2011!!  Brian’s wife, Nora, is the Artistic Director for Lynchburg’s Academy of Fine Arts.  She also is trained as a classical singer with a Masters degree in Opera Performance from the Boston Conservatory of Music and has performed with both national and local local organizations, including Opera on the James, as well as churches and other groups.

In the community, Brian has served a director and finance chair for the Lynchburg Symphony Orchestra, as a director and Secretary for Opera on the James, is an active member of Rotary International, and a regular volunteer with the Academy of Fine Arts.   He performs pro bono legal work for Legal Aid of Virginia and is currently serving on Legal Aid’s Pro Bono Task Force Committee.

Brian joined Phillips, Morrison, Johnson, and Ferrell as an associate attorney in early 2008. He has focused on supporting our firm’s family law practice with Frank Morrison, primarily handling litigated cases.  Brian is also available to represent clients with regards to matters involving general litigation, estate planning, business law, real estate/property transactions and disputes, environmental law, and appeals to either the Virginia Court of Appeals or the Supreme Court of Virginia.

Brian received a B.S. degree in Biology from Baylor University in Texas and his Juris Doctor degree from University of Richmond’s T.C. Williams School of Law.  Brian began practicing law in public service as a trial and appellate attorney for the Virginia Indigent Defense Commission in Lynchburg, he then went to work for a Dallas, TX law firm specializing in mortgage finance and transaction law where he worked as counsel in coordination with several large banking institutions.  Prior to joining the Bar, Brian clerked for Professor Emeritus W. Wade Berryhill providing research and writing support for a number of publications including Berryhill’s “Property Law” course textbook and the authoritative “Virginia Real Estate Transactions” text, served as law clerk in a highly regarded firm focusing on the representation of clients subject to regulation under the Clean Water Act and other major environmental regulations, participated in numerous other academic and law-related projects, performed independent, grant supported research in biological and ecological sciences as an undergraduate culminating in a poster presentation at an annual National Meeting of the Ecological Society of America as well as assisted in research and writing for other scientific journal publications.
